Ngonidzashe Mararike – Social and Environmental Scientist

Ms Ngonidzashe Mararike is the founding consultant of Black Crystal and she has over 13 years experience in environmental management, social impact assessment, and environmental auditing.  She holds a BSocSc (Hons) in Environmental & Geographical Science and Industrial Sociology and a Master of Environmental Science MSc. Ngonidzashe has worked in Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe on various infrastructure projects in the roads, mining and agricultural sectors.  She has also undertaken consultancies in Kenya and Uganda.  

Ngonidzashe has worked on socioeconomic assessments on various developmental projects in the Southern African region, mainly undertaking public consultations and assessing potential impacts of development projects on local communities.

She is familiar with a wide range of Zimbabwean legislation and policies relating to the environment and sustainable development.   Through her involved in a DFID funded project she has an understanding on issues around social protection, livelihoods, hunger and vulnerability in Zimbabwe and the Southern Africa region.

Through the various projects, Ngonidzashehas gained experience in working with government departments, and ministries (in particular, the Environmental Agency in Zimbabwe) and the private sector through her involvement in committees such as the Confederation of Zimbabwean Industries (CZI) Environment and Infrastructure Committee.
